Commonly known as rapini in other parts of the world, broccoli rabe offers a nutty, bitter flavor. Despite its name, broccoli rabe’s closest relative is the turnip! Heart-healthy, both the stalks and the leaves have been found to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease. While traditionally associated with Italian and Portuguese cuisines, broccoli rabe produces great contrast in spicy, sweet, or starchy dishes.
