Keep the warm weather vibes going by scooping some out on ice cream, juicing it for a sweetly-tart cocktail, or crafting scrumptious cake. No matter where you let passionfruit take you, follow these techniques to keep it in tip-top shape.

  • When selecting passionfruit, always look for a strong, fragrant smell and heavy weight. A lightweight passionfruit generally contains less pulp, and will offer subpar fruit.
  • A perfectly ripe passionfruit will look more unappealing than an unripe one. Wrinkled skin is a surefire sign of ripeness for passionfruit. If your fruit has smooth skin, let it ripen at room temperature for a few days until it gains a substantial amount of wrinkles and a darker hue.
  • Passionfruit has a fantastic shelf-life. Once ripe, it can last anywhere from 2 weeks to a month if stored in the fridge.
  • Like other tropical fruits, Passionfruit produces a high level of ethylene. This gas can cause other produce to ripen immaturely, so store it on its own whenever possible.
